How to Grow GMO Strain (2026 Grow Diary)
Why Grow GMO Strain?
GMO is a heavy-hitting indica-dominant hybrid designed for serious growers who want dense resinous buds, bold flavor and deep relaxation. With its 90% indica genetics and rich lineage (Chemdawg × GSC), it’s built for power, aroma, and yield. Whether you’re growing indoor or outdoor, this strain rewards careful cultivation with top-tier results.

Lighting: Full-spectrum LED (400–600W recommended)
Ventilation: Inline fan + carbon filter (strong scent likely)
Pots: 3–5 gallon fabric containers
Medium: Quality soil or coco + perlite for drainage
Water pH: 6.2–6.6
Nutrients: Standard veg/bloom feed + Cal-Mag
Outdoor Setup
Ideal climate: Dry to moderate with ample sunlight

Germination: Starting Your GMO Grow
Use the reliable paper towel method to start your seeds.
Place seeds between two damp (not soaked) paper towels
Cover with two plates to keep darkness and humidity stable
Keep temperature around 70–75 °F
Once the tap-root appears (~½ inch), plant root-tip down approximately ½ inch into your medium ⚠️ Avoid using completely sealed plastic bags — airflow helps prevent rot.
Week 1: Seedling Stage
In this first week, focus on giving your plants a stable foundation.
Keep humidity high (≈ 65–70%) and temperature at 72–77 °F
Light should be gentle, keep it at a comfortable distance
Water lightly around the root zone, no heavy feeding yet
Provide gentle airflow to strengthen stems and encourage healthy structure
By week’s end you should see healthy cotyledons followed by true leaves, setting the stage for robust growth.
Week 2: Early Vegetative Growth
This stage is when your plant begins to ramp up growth.
Begin low-stress training (LST) to spread out the canopy and control height
Introduce feed at about ¼ strength veg nutrients
Maintain humidity at ~60–65% and temperature 73–78 °F
Keep watering moderate and avoid over-saturation
Your goal here is to encourage outward growth and a strong branching framework for heavy bud sites later.
Week 3: Veg Expansion
Your GMO plant will now expand noticeably. Expect thicker stems and more vigorous growth.
Height: approximately 10–14 inches
Humidity: ~55–60%; Temperature: 73–78 °F
Increase nutrient strength to ~½ veg feed
Optional: Top the plant above the 5th node to promote multiple cola sites
Strong vegetative growth now will prime your plant for the intensive flowering phase.
Week 4: Pre-Flower Transition
You’re entering the final building stage before buds fully set.
Remove any lower growth that won’t receive light to improve airflow
Reduce humidity to around 50–55%
Keep temperature stable (72–78 °F)
Tie down branches if necessary, but avoid major training moves now
Prepare for your lighting flip next week
Your plant will be lush and ready. Expect early pistil spots to appear at this stage.
Week 5–6: Flower Initiation
The plant is now in the bloom zone: pistils everywhere, structure forming.
Switch to a 12/12 light cycle indoors
Humidity: ~45–50%, Temperature: 70–77 °F
Transition to bloom nutrient formula (higher phosphorus & potassium)
Expect aroma to intensify with diesel, coffee and sweet undertones
You’ll see the plant beginning to slot into bud mode. Get ready for rapid transformation.
Week 7–8: Bud Development
This phase is where the bulk and resin ramp-up happens.
Humidity: reduce to around 40–45% to prevent mold
Temperature: ideal range 68–75 °F
Maintain bloom nutrients and strong airflow
Support heavier branches and monitor for any droop under dense colas
By end of week 8 the buds should be heavy, sticky, and covered in trichomes which are the signature of GMO.
Week 9–10: Ripening & Flush
The final push before harvest.
Start flush: plain pH-balanced water for 5–7 days
Temperature: 65–70 °F, Humidity: 35–40%
Check trichomes: mostly cloudy with ~10-15% amber
Harvest when pistils are ~70–80% darkened and curled in
Proper timing now ensures maximum potency and flavour in your final product.
Harvest & Curing
Drying: Hang plants in darkness for 10–14 days at ~60 °F and 55% RH
Curing: Place buds in glass jars; burp daily for the first week, then weekly for 3–4 weeks
Final cured buds should have deep diesel-coffee aroma with sweet undertones and a relaxing, euphoric high
Final Thoughts on Growing GMO Strain
GMO is a powerhouse strain built for growers who want luxury flavour, deep resin, and potent results. With proper care you’ll get lush, sensory-rich buds and a high-quality yield.
Ideal for evening use due to strong Indica dominance
Perfect for extraction & resin lovers
Compact enough for indoor tents yet robust enough for outdoor
I planted 10 Super Boof seeds, and all germinated without a hitch. The plants grew strong and healthy, producing dense, frosty buds with a sweet, earthy aroma. The high is uplifting yet relaxing—a perfect balance. Impressive yield too, even with minimal effort
Gary Payton

I’ve been growing weed for 30+ years, and to be honest, it’s quite difficult to surprise me. After a few decades of facing different strains, changing growing conditions, and solving whatever problem you could possibly think of, by then, I believe I’ve seen it all in cannabis growing.
Gary Payton defied every single one of my expectations. The plant thrived, growing to an impressive 6 feet in what seemed like a blink of an eye. It quickly filled out with buds and displayed better smell each day, showing solid proof of superior genetics. The buds were tight, aromatic, and a source of immense pride, surpassing the outcome of many of my previous endeavors.
Hypno Seeds with their Gary Payton strain has won my complete admiration and loyalty. Outstanding genetics in this plant have truly turned what I always thought of to be an experiment with negligible expectations into one of the most satisfying grows of my long career.
Looking forward, my excitement for the next growing season is unparalleled. I can’t wait to see how much I can take these strains, especially with the attention that Gary Payton really does deserve right from the start.

TRUE MAGIC! This strain really stands out. I am trying Hypno Seeds for the first time and I surely made the right choice. I will be ordering more RS11 seeds just to keep this beauty in my garden for the upcoming season. Growing in Virginia and it’s only shown perfection by now.
Blackberry Kush

Starting my latest grow, I decided to try out some Blackberry Kush from Hypno… I planted her on a whim alongside my other favorites. Hypno Seeds said it had to be a powerful plant with rich, fruity scents… Seeing is believing. She developed purplish hues and dense resin coated buds and quickly took center stage in my garden and produced much more than expected. The buds are tightly packed, literally bursting with the heady aroma. The yield? Very impressive for her conditions…

Germinated three seeds using the paper towel method with100% success rate within 48 hours. Planted in 5 gallon pots with living soil under a 315W CMH light. Plants remained compact (3.5 ft) with thick lateral branching, showing high resistance to humidity and minor nutrient fluctuations. Yield per plant: 5.8 oz of extremely dense, trichome-heavy buds. Smell profile during flower: sharp pine, pepper, and a hint of citrus. Harvested at week 9, after trichomes showed 30% amber for peak sedative effects. Smoke report: Potent. Deep relaxation without full sedation. Ideal for stress relief.
